Who We Are
Howell & Co. Solicitors was founded in 2011 by Treasa Howell, following a career in two prestigious general law practice firms. She set about putting together a great group of experts in a range of fields. Our people work great as a team and the knowledge within the firm, from law to business and IT helps not only us, but our clients as well. We have great experience in dealing with people and our clients tell us that this comes across when they use our services.
Treasa Howell Principal Solicitor
Treasa is the Principal of the firm and as such she can turn her hand to most areas of law. Treasa worked as a Solicitor in a South Dublin Firm and also in a busy practice in Tallaght. Through her hard work and dedication, she set up Howell & Co. Solicitors. Treasa has extensive experience in all areas of litigation especially personal injury* and medical negligence* law. She also specialises in family law and employment law. She is highly skilled in the areas of judicial review and administrative law. Treasa has other extensive achievements and experience in a range of areas, from being an Environmental Scientist to working as a Residential Social Care Worker in the past. She understands people and this, along with her qualifications, skills and leadership, mean that Howell & Co. Solicitors is not only an expert firm, but a progressive one also.
Treasa holds an Honours BA in Natural Science from Trinity College Dublin. She then went on to study Law in Griffith College Dublin. Treasa qualified as Solicitor through the Law Society of Ireland and she was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Ireland and also in England and Wales. Treasa constantly updates her skills and knowledge of a very wide range of legal areas and this shows in how Howell & Co. deal with their clients and the complexities of the law.
In 2016 and 2017 she completed specialised training in Criminal Defence at Garda Stations (SUPRALAT IRELAND) and she recently completed a Company Law Certificate entitled "Certificate in Company Secretarial Law and Practice" which was jointly awarded by the Law Society of Ireland and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA). She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA). Treasa also holds membership of the Irish Family Law Association, the Irish Environmental Law Association and she is a member of the Childcare Law and Criminal Law Legal Aid Panel.
Ann Mangan Senior Assistant Solicitor
Ann has over 20 years’ experience as a solicitor with a particular expertise in all areas of residential and commercial conveyancing, acting for both property buyers and sellers. She also advises clients in the purchasing, selling and letting all types of commercial property. Ann also provides expert legal advice in relation to Landlord/Tenant Law.
Throughout her career Ann has developed extensive knowledge in the area of wills and probate. She also has wide-ranging experience in District Court Litigation, including in the area of prosecution. Ann has a personal interest in other areas of Law, particularly in wardship and care of the elderly. Ann has the sort of experience that puts any client at ease, through her extensive know-how and of course her approachability and friendliness.
Ann holds an Honours Degree in Law from University College Dublin. She qualified as a Solicitor through the Law Society of Ireland. She also holds a Diploma in European Law from UCD. Ann earned a Certificate in Commercial Contracts from the Law Society. This, along with a Fetac level 5 in Bookkeeping has proved invaluable in her dealings with clients from the commercial world.
Rachel Smith Legal Secretary
Rachel joined Howell and Co. in September 2017. She has the role of principal Legal Secretary. She has diverse practical legal experience and her knowledge is spread around numerous areas including probate, wills and conveyancing. Rachel’s skill with people also comes to the fore when dealing with clients going through the experience of being involved with the legal system. Her sensitivity and knowledge is vital to our work and her management of personal injury* and medical negligence* files is exemplary. She is aware of clients’ personal experiences and works with many people in difficult circumstances. Her organisational skills, her training as a Legal Secretary and her people skills means she brings a lot to the firm and its clients.
Rachel also has extensive secretarial experience having worked for 14 years as an office administrator and purchaser with a busy South Dublin office furniture manufractor. She is used to dealing with the public and a wide range of clients. She’s professional, polite and trustworthy and a great person to have around. Rachel makes things run smoothly. She may be the first person you meet in Howell & Co. and her welcoming approach, knowledge and attention to your needs is a real asset to us and our clients.
Rachel has trained for her Legal Secretary Diploma through Pitman Training. She is enrolled to study for a degree in Law at Griffith College Dublin in September 2018.
Sarah Lynch Trainee Solicitor
Sarah Lynch is a post PPC 1 Trainee Solicitor. She assists both solicitors on a daily basis in all areas of legal practice. Sarah Lynch is heavily involved in the Conveyancing, Criminal and Family Law sections of the firm and our clients tell us that her knowledge and her way with people sets them at ease. As a trainee solicitor, Sarah Lynch deals with clients on a daily basis and her attention to detail and her efficiency are invaluable.
Before joining the team Sarah worked for 11 years as a clerical officer for Kildare County Council and gained invaluale legal and clerical experience in the following Departments: Planning and Environmental, Water Services Depart,ent and Motor Taxation. Sarah also worked as a legal assistant in a number of very busy Kildare Solicitor Practices.
Sarah holds a BA Degree in Law from Dublin Institute of Technology and a Higher Diploma in Legal Studies from Dublin Business School. She has completed all her FE1s and PPC1 at the Law Society of Ireland.
Catherine McHugh Book Keeper/Head of Accounts
Catherine of McHugh Accounting Services, is the person who keeps an expert eye on all areas of finance and accounting for the firm. Catherine has experience as Financial Controller for a solicitors firm and has an in-depth knowledge of accountancy and the financial realm. This can be of huge value to the firm particularly in relation to self-employed clients and business. She is also highly skilled in the areas of strategic financial planning and contract negotiation, which form just part of her knowledge in the complex area of accounting and finance.
Catherine qualified as an accountant through her studies in both the Ballsbridge College of Business and Dublin Business School.
